YAWA:
JOURNEYING TOGETHER.
Climate - Health - Country - Culture.
YAWA is an independent Indigenous network that provides a ‘safe space for yarning’ and planning actions regarding climate, health, Country and culture. Yawa exists to maintain and create opportunities to build mob connection. To each other, to community, to culture, to Country. To re-ignite original wellbeing practices of Victorian First Nations peoples, which could then lead the way for non-Indigenous Victorians. This wisdom is shared broadly for everyone to learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wisdom and decolonise our relationships with culture, country, climate and health.
Yawa’s Youth Listening Circles
Yawa's Youth Listening Circles aim to promote cultural awareness by educating students about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and perspectives. Our Youth Listening Circles visit schools to promote cultural awareness, encourage youth voices, foster connections, and empower young people as advocates for Indigenous issues and environmental stewardship.
